The colour of flowers
Painting flowers is much harder than I thought - if you don't get the balance right, then it can either look like a still life or cheap.

After six failed attempts on roses last year, I gathered up some energy to try again. Halfway through the process I almost lost it again, I pulled through and this time I am happier with the result - it's not in the bin which is an accomplishment in itself. This is what I have learned so far:
1. Hard and soft edges matters,
2. White is the absence of colour,
3. Oil paints are meant to be the hero of the painting - use more paint!
4. If someone tells you that colour and flowers is not for your - try harder.
5. I am one step further than where I was a year ago, and that feels pretty awesome.
