I always strive to learn new things, whether it be in my personal life or art journey. So, last year when I saw the Bright Street Gallery in Somerset West advertising for entries to there exhibition called "Flower Power", I thought that this will be a good opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and paint flowers - without the help of my art teacher as that was one of the requirements.
It was important to me to at least give it a go as I have come so dependent on my art teacher's advise that somehow I believed that I cannot paint on my own without her approving the final piece. One painting landed in the bin, one painting was not chosen for the exhibition and the other one was. I feel kind of proud of myself to have tried. So here it is - titled "Kappertjies" Oil on canvas 40 x 40 cm and it will be in the exhibition starting on 26 January 2018.
I also hope to have gained the confidence to paint more this year to seek more gallery representation.
