Suffering. Perseverance, Character, Hope...Rom 5:2-5(Bible).
As creatives we always want to improve our skills. To move closer to our goals. But to what cost?
No literally - I mean income and expenses...lets not make this more than what it is - because we dot not create because we need to make money, but we need money to create.
I don't know how other artists deal with this delicate situation, but for me I needed to sort a few things out and in doing so ignore the all so nagging profit line. Among these were productivity (which is linked to my skill level} and allergies [linked to the solvents I use]. I had most of all needed to learn to be patient.
Not all hope is gone as they say. Through some online courses I learned to paint faster. After four months of struggling with a new brand of paint I finally understands its properties. And, I am still busy with practice pieces on a almost solvent free painting process. Did I mention that I messed three paintings up with retouch varnish? Still working on fixing that problem too.
But, I have learned that suffering produces perseverance and perseverance character and character hope -
which is something that money just cannot buy.
Till next time.
